My Beloved Kanata by Mappadaka Goutarou

This Doujioshi was very wholesome! You will be surprised it is a loving story between Kanata and Rui. The relationship is wholesome throughout. I like that both Kanata and Rui are different in physical and personality. Kanata is an introverted guy with glasses but he is possessive. In contrast to Rui, he is extroverted and popular but he is very kind to Kanata. The bedroom scenes are hot, sexy, uncensored. I liked the nipple action the most and Rui’s well-rounded chest. The drawing is clean and well-drawn. Highly recommended for anyone who loves lovely dovey couples and super smutty scenes!

Surprise Interview at My Coffee Shop 2 ~ Marked With a Jealous Boyfriend’s Scent by Miyahama Ryo

This is the next volume of Surprise Interview at My Coffee Shop, the story is even wilder than the first. This has fantastic coloured work. The whole story is super lewd. Lots of great sexy action. Full-on display of the downstairs department (aka the manhood). It is a feast for the eyes. My eyes were burning from the sexy action, Thicc downstairs department. highly recommend if you like super erotic scenes.

Demon BF by NAOP

This Doujinshi is a fun read. I’m a fan of Noap’s raunchy. Funny stories. The chemistry between the demon and Tsutomu is funny and cute. There are great bedroom action. It is very well drawn. The masculine anatomy is excellent. I like Kracht’s (Demon) design. The bedroom scene is wild and a feast for the eyes. I highly recommend this Doujinshi if you enjoy Geicomi and like beefy male characters.

Mine-Kun is Asexual by Isaki Uta  (Aqua)

This is a beautiful story about true connection and intimacy. It is very well written and beautifully drawn. Muria has fallen in love with Mine and she wanted to be intimate with him but Mine explained he is Asexual and has no desire for sexual intimacy. However, Mine does truly love Muria and feels the bond and chemistry toward Murai.

Out of Control by Gram

(Yes im recommending this again)

This is an Omegvareus Yuri story. The story and art style is unique. Two powerful muscle girls, lots of action and it is an enjoyable read. Shino get captured by an emery. The emery injects Shino with a Serum that gives her simulating effects. Glow rescued her on time but the drug took effect and it was up to Glow to help Shino fast. Glow got a little carried away with Shino and Shino never felt so embarrassed. This story is a good and fun read, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Worth reading if you like powerful muscle girls!

Raincoat Kids 1 and The Splish-Splash City by Yoimachi Meme (Aqua)

Three Kids explore a mysterious and enchanted flooded city. The illustrations are cute and charming. If feel like you entered into a mysterious adventure. The story is short, there are three volumes of this doujishi. This doujishi is for all ages. This series is recommended to read.

MANGACLUB: https://www.manga.club/book/title/SCEN00002/

I looked forward to reading this manga since it was announced by Futekiya it will license ShuCream BL titles. I enjoy reading office romance, men in suits, and highly kinky action scenes. The romance between salarymen and businessmen is a very sexy read. It is my third favourite sub-BL genre. It slightly reminds me of “It Starts from the Inside” by Atami Michinoku. The cover artwork definitely took my interest. i have read a preview of this manga on Manga Club.

This manga is also available in other manga ebook stores. But it was great that it is now available on Futekiya, as I’m already subscribed to Futekiya.

It is a mature, sensual story. Kudo is a presentable, high-status office worker. Kudo keeps his emotions a close guard to himself. Sato has an eye for Kudo and seduced him. Kudo never had this experience before and become hooked by Sato. Kudo use to rebel when he was in his teens. Sato noticed that Kudo has a piercing hole in his ear and a small tattoo on Kudo’s ankle. Sato is intrigued and tries to uncover more Kudo’s mysterious past.
I like the chemistry between both Kudo and Sato. It was a good read and the drawings are so well drawn.

BL Review: On or Off by A1 | Manhaw | TOKYOPOP | Podcast Notes

New podcast episode: On or Off by A1 | Manhaw | TOKYOPOP | Episode 151 review

Available to read on Amazon Kindle (UK): https://amzn.eu/d/c8TagqT

Another Manhaw manga I have on my bucket list to read. I was planning to read this on kindle but recently it was reduced from £6 to 0.89p. I bought it immediately for 0.89p. It is good because I want to read something different and a manhaw manga that will be interesting to talk about for this podcast.

I reviewed Hyperventilation and I thought it was really good.

I thought On or Off is average in my personal opinion. I thought the artwork was flat. I was hoping to feel the chemistry between the characters. I felt it dragged on a bit too much without something interesting scenarios. I was a bit uncomfortable with Kang Daehyung sorta taking advantage of Ahn Yiyoung. He knows that Yiyoung is desperate to promote his game and he agrees to do anything.

I’m glad I read it. And I’m glad I bought it for reducd price.

BL Review: Killing Stalking Deluxe Edition by Koogi volume 1 & 2 | Manhwa | Podcast Notes

New podcast episode: Killing Stalking Deluxe Edition by Koogi | Manhwa | Episode 152 review

New podcast episode: Killing stalking volume 2 by Koogi | Manhwa | episode 156

Publisher; Seven Sea Entertainment, Lezhin Entertainment
Age rating: Mature (scene of cruelty, torture, violence, sexual abuse, self-harm)

The Review

Shout out to one support who donated £3 the support of this podcast, I really appreciate the support. The £3 has been contributed to this book, if you want to support the podcast and get a shout check out my Ko fi page or Bug Me A Coffee page links are on the podcast description)

I was lucky to get killing Stalking second-hand for half the original price (£8), is in good condition. And it arrived very quickly. I did plan to buy it on Amazon at full price. But I saw one copy on the marketplace and I check who was selling it and it was a world of books. I often buy from the world of books for a lot of second-hand manga and books.

This Manhwa was originally published on Lezhin online. It become very popular and got an English publication.

I flicked through and the next thing I was glued to reading it from cover to back. It is a wild, disturbing story. I did think it was engaging and gripping. After reading it I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It stayed in my mind. I had a lot of questions about the character relationship and how will the plot twist will turn out.

It made me instantly think of thriller films I know such as Old Boy, Silence if the lambs and other crime, thriller stories. Especially North Korean films do thrillers very well. They are masters of thriller genres.

As a thriller is very good. But not good as a BL story. It’s doesn’t fit as a BL, more like a thriller, hostage story. There are a lot of uncomfortable, disturbing scenes that will be distressing to some readers. Definitely not for everyone.

The categories for this manga as a BL is misleading. It tries to be enticing and attract people who read BL/Yaoi. A lot of readers felt annoyed (including myself) it was branded as a BL but both characters don’t have real relationship, and the no indication of real romance or chemistry between Yoon and Sangwoo. It is very confusing.
Yoon had a crush on and sexually fantasised Sangwoo but he was absolutely afraid of Sangwoo. Yoon plans to escape from Sangwoo. I thought Yoon had Stockholm syndrome towards Sangwoo. I thought he would want to be captor by Sangwoo and do anything for him. If he was crazy in love with Sangwoo, he will felt reluctant to escape. And stick by Sangwoo, even if he would get himself killed.
I keep thinking that Sangwoo is a complete psychopath serial killer. He is erratic, he can be gentle to Yoon then be violent and abusive. There a clue into Sangwoo’s childhood that made him mentally disturbed and got a taste for blood young. Sangwoo relish on killing and torturing his victims. I am interested to know why he kept Yoon alive. I think that Sangwoo has mother issues. He said that Yoon reminds him of his mother. He mentions his mother a lot in the story so maybe there of a mystery between him and his mother. He also said he doesn’t kill men.

The artwork is very amazing. Great colouring, dynamic and intense scenes.

Stockholm syndrome (feelings of trust or affection felt in many cases of kidnapping or hostage-taking by a victim towards a captor) that he would full for his kidnapper.

The reason I wanted to read it is that it popular and it is crime, thriller genre that interested myself. I read a lot of crime, and thriller novels.

The edition is nice, high the print publication is high quality. it has a special fold-out illustration inserted at the back.

I would buy volume 2 when it released. I to hooked into the story and looking forward to knowing what will happen next.

Convenience Store Woman By Sayaka Murata | Novel episode 133

New podcast episode: Convenience Store Woman By Sayaka Murata | Novel review episode 133

The Review

This is a famous Japanese novel and is highly recommended to read in Japanese literature. I watched and listen to a few book reviewers on this novel and it did sound interesting. So I borrow a copy from my local library.

I read the book within a day. It is very short and easy to read. I was hooked from the start. The writing and story are unique. As a reader, you get to understand and empathise with Keiko (protagonist).

My interpretation of the story is that Keiko safe place is the convenience store. The convenience store for her is a controlled environment, it gives her purpose and routine. She becomes institutionalised, and she becomes part of the store. She has been pressured to follow Japanese society by getting married and having children. But it didn’t feel right for her.

I also thought perhaps Keiko may have an autism Spectrum. The artist didn’t specify that Keiko has autism. But in the story, Keiko describes her childhood and how she finds difficulties in social interaction. In Japan, mental/social disorders are not aware of nor get much support as in western society.

Japan is on the extreme end, is about keeping the society going and a lot of time neglecting oneself to help the greater society. There is a huge pressure to follow the high expectation in Japanese society by getting good grades, finding work, performing well, and getting married. And that could lead to breakdown and even tragic events.

So for Keiko, the Convenience store is a better environment for her, without too much of Japanese society’s expectations of her.

I can relate to this character a lot because I have social issues and empathise with the struggle she goes through.

Shieaha was the new employee but got fired for not doing the work and messing about. He is a wild character and his Philosophy about society is extreme. He becomes a shut-in and checks out society. Keiko takes Shieaha in and considers him a pet. But I wonder how long that would last. But Keiko uses this as a way to up her status by saying she has a man living with her.

I really enjoyed reading Convenience Store Woman, after I finished reading and I bought the book straight away online and now got a fresh copy. (I got the purple copy) I can feel myself reading it again. It is such a short read and I like that. Most novels are thicker but this book is thin yet has a lot of content.
It is thought-provoking, and it makes you think and question a lot of aspects. That would make this story brilliant.

The translator did fantastic work in conveying the Essen of the story and language from Japanese to English.

The author is talented and unique. I watched one of the interviews on Japan Society NY and it was fascinating how the author think and the weird story idea she come up with.

I am interested in reading Earthlings next. I have done a bit of research and heard it is a disturbing/twisted story. Similar to earthling but much darker. A lot of readers felt disturbed by some parts and warn to have the right mindset when reading Earthlings. I’ll see how far I would read Earthling and see if I can go through the book.

Summary

At school and university, people find Keiko odd, and her family worries she will never fit in. To make them happy, Keiko takes a job at a newly opened convenience store where she finds peace and purpose in simple daily tasks.

But in Keiko’s circle, it just won’t do for an unmarried woman to spend her time stacking shelves and ordering green tea. As the pressure to find a new job – or worse, a husband – increases, Keiko is forced to take desperate action… A cult hit around the world, Convenience Store Woman is both feminist rallying cry and must-read oddball comedy.

The Devotion Of Suspect X By Keigo Higashino | Japanese literature | Episode 131

New podcast: The Devotion Of Suspect X By Keigo Higashino | Japanese literature | episode 131 Book Review

The Review

A unique crime novel. I discovered this novel from watching YouTube videos on Japanese literature and this appeal to me as I like reading crime novels. That fact is that Japanese literature will have different storytelling.

I also for a long time had the idea of including reviews of novels in my podcast but didn’t know which selection of novels to review or discuss.

Characters name list:

  • Yasuko – The lady who works at the bento shop
  • kusanagi – The detective
  • Togashi – the Ex husband who got killed
  • Yukawa – the professor
  • Ishigami – the Mat Teacher
  • kudo – Yasuko friends
  • Misato – Yasuko’s daughter

At the begging of the story you already know the murder and already find out who commit it. but the interesting part is the whole story is about how the Math teacher is going to outwit the police. it is a battle of wit and illigentance. The investigation becomes complex and the detective is having a challenging finding the evidence of the crime he noticed doesn’t add up with the lady’s story. his friend the professor is also very intellect and somehow decodes the mystery of the case. but give the detective a lot of riddles and theories.

The story is low-key, with not much action, just the detective going away asking questions and investigating. at the end section of the book, the situation becomes an intended and dramatic plot twist that leaves the reader questioning and taken by surprise.

it is a different direction to a crime story as the reader already know who committed the crime. I think it is about the main intention than the crime and what other events will lead into. Ishigami was a mystery, why would he do all things for Yasuko and willing to go so far for her. Ishigami is a man who doesn’t display emotions and does things in a logical manner. but his intentions were the key to this story.

it is well-written and easy to read thought. it is straight to the point. the story was engaging. very well translated, the translator did a fantastic job in translating. it was the first Japanese crime novel I have read and I was impressed and felt I had a good read.

i am interested in reading more of Keigo Higashino’s other crime titles because they are well written and different to the crime novels i am use to in English crime novels.

I highly recommend reading The Devotion Of Suspect X. it is a good choice of book if you are a crime enthusiast and looking for Japanese crime novels.

Summary

Yasuko lives a quiet life, working in a Tokyo bento shop, a good mother to her only child. But when her ex-husband appears at her door without warning one day, her comfortable world is shattered.

When Detective Kusanagi of the Tokyo Police tries to piece together the events of that day, he finds himself confronted by the most puzzling, mysterious circumstances he has ever investigated. Nothing quite makes sense, and it will take a genius to understand the genius behind this particular crime…

One of the biggest-selling Japanese thrillers ever, and the inspiration for a cult film, The Devotion of Suspect X is now being discovered across the world. Its blend of a page-turning story, evocative Tokyo setting and utterly surprising ending make it a must-read for anyone interested in international fiction.

Available to buy on Amazon

It was actually a very fun read. it’s better than Kijima Hyougo other works ‘Wild Wild, Wildlife’ i bought it on Amazon Kindle. I did add the manga to my wish life but I must have forgotten about it till now. and I thought it will be a good manga to review.

You should listen to Episode 31 of my review of Wild Wild Wildlife.

The stories, in Kisses, Macarons, and Lonely Pie are fun and smutty. there was nothing that was problematic for me. the storyline is lighthearted. the characters are sexy and entraining. I personally enjoyed it.

I like the main story were:
Kisses, Macarons, and Lonely Pie
As Kasumigaura Blooms
Mob Hero

I would like to get this physical copy of the manga soon (note: i already did buy it), so I could wait until later till i save some cash. however buying manga in the UK, is difficult. most of the manga I would like to get are overpriced or not available. Most of my Manga are bought from Japan. I just recenlty bought Dick Fight Island from Book Desposirty.

Summary

Three years ago Tora and Ryota were an unbeatable pitching duo. The two were feared on the mound and were admired off.
These days, Tora is a himbo ne’er-do-well and Ryota is slaving over ramen in his hometown. Furthermore Ryota is being set up for marriage by his family. So when Tora hears that his old partner might get taken off the board, he makes a beeline for home hoping to score big with his old teammate.
The love between two former ball players can be a little bit of a swing-and-a-miss and a little bit of a homerun. But either way some one is going to score in this romance-comedy!

Available to buy on Amazon

Sublime Manga Website: https://www.sublimemanga.com/dick-fight-island

Age Rating: Mature

The latest BL release from Sublime Manga. It was released this month (May)
It’s 2 bestsellers on amazon already. Placing next to “My Hero Academia” It is very hype online. Most people have already got this manga. It also available to buy ebooks on kindle. I bought it on kindle straight away.
After I read it, I really want to physical copy so bad! It is such an entertaining, fantastic manga. It has everything I like.
The physical copy of the manga is not relaxed yet in the Uk. Only per order so I have to wait until June. But I’m glad I read it on kindle first and have the opportunity to read it. You can buy the digital copy on Sublime Website.

My first impression of this manga, I was in love with the drawing and the character designs. It took me by surprised at the scene and the downstairs department and booty is on full display. It is very eye candy. So much testosterones.

Great drawings, love how the male characters are drawn. Each character is unique and interesting. Very heavily focus on the downside department. The storyline is wild but heartwarming/ wholesome. It is a mixture of testosterone dominant. a lot of sexy action, lewd expressions and angels. the manga is censored but it hardly covers the genitals, you can still see it on full display. it’s becoming my new favourite. My Instant top five BL manga.

Platinum Blood (NUUDE COMICS) by Moru Ichigaya | My latest Japanese BL Manga | Podcast Notes

Listen to the full review on Spotify:

Over the last two weeks, I bought 5 more BL manga directly from Japan. I bought them from Amazon JP. The first order was good. It arrived in good condition it the second order, it came damaged. The packaging was not secured. The corners of the books got bent and teared. So I was pretty upset and wrote immediately to Amazon jp. They were very quick in response and issues me a full refund for the books. I felt better.
So I decided to keep them and stick to ordering from CD Japan, a better company with customer care and packaging! Their packaging and service is of high standard.

However, I did not have any plans to buy more Japanese manga for a while. I have a good range of Japanese printed manga that I feel very satisfied with. I haven’t started reading them properly. I want to do that soon, so I can talk about them in my podcast.

Physical Copy of Platinum Blood (NUUDE COMICS) by Moru Ichigaya

But I can talk about One Manga I have been reading, Platinum Blood. This manga has been released this month August. I pre-ordered that manga and I’m glad I did because it was selling out fast! I was very interested in the story and it sound like my kind of BL manga I would read. I love reading BL vampire, they are hot, sex and entertaining. It is very obvious because I like vampire anime/manga like Hellsing, if you are a regular listener you know mention Hellsing, Trinity Blood. Vampire Portrait, Vassalord in the episodes.

Platinum Blood is not what I had expected. It is actually a very romantic sweet story between a priest and Vampire. The drawing is well drawn. I thought it would have a lot of action scenes or dark, heavy, gothic scenes but its was nothing like that. It is gothic but more like cute gothic. However I did enjoy reading it, and also found some scenes funny.
I am confused about Alu, (aka Alucard) first why his name is Alucard? He doesn’t have the ruthlessness nor the dark heavy aura that a Vampire character named Alucard would be. This character Alu is quiet, reserved and definitely not dangerous. I think it would be suited if he had a different name.
But overall, it is a fun, entertaining vampire BL, I would recommend for those who love vampire BL Stories.

Note: Platinum Blood is in Japanese

I used DeepL to translate the Description:
